of Powis Castle, Welshpool; ancestor of Marquess of Powis, which family stayed Catholic during Penal Times, involved in Jacobite resistance, extinct. Bought the Castle and the surrounding estates from Edward Grey, the illegitimate son of Edward Grey, the 4th and last Baron Grey of Powis in 1587. ¹⁰⁶
