1st Bart. Succeeded to his father's estates at the early age of six years,
and being chosen into the Assembly for St. Andrew's in 1757, he aquired
distinction and so strongly recommended himself, by his indefatigable attendance,
as from thenceforth to secure an annual re-election. He was created a Baronet
6 Apr 1769.
John married Christian Dottin, daughter of Joseph Dottin and Anne Jordan, on 19 Oct 1746 in St James, Barbados. (Christian Dottin died in 1782.)
John next married Jane Abel Alleyne, daughter of Col Abel Alleyne and Mary Woodbridge, on 29 Jun 1786 in St James, Barbados. (Jane Abel Alleyne died on 29 Aug 1800 in St James, Barbados.)
